The Valleyview Vikes clamped down defensively in the third quarter to punch their ticket to Saturday’s championship final.

Trailing by three at halftime, Valleyview put on a defensive clinic after the break, holding the Fernie Falcons without a field goal for the next 10 minutes and surrendering just a single free throw in that stretch. At the other end of the floor, the Vikes capitalized, scoring 15 points to seize control and pull away for a 47-40 victory.

Sameera Gill led Valleyview with 18 points, including 11 during the pivotal third quarter, while Claire McLoughlin chipped in 17. Fernie was paced by Kamry Yuill with 14 points, and Jaycee Anderson added 12.

The Pitt Meadows Marauders set the tone early and never let up, racing out to a 17-4 lead and cruising to a wire-to-wire 64-47 victory over the Centennial Centaurs.

Up by 20 at halftime, the Marauders quickly put the game out of reach by opening the third quarter with a 10-0 run, snuffing out any hopes of a Centennial rally. Jocelyn Boyes paced Pitt Meadows with 17 points, while Kaydence McCaw added 14.

Centennial was led by Amalie Griffiths with 17 points, and Eden Kolins chipped in 10.

Super 16

Riverside Rapids' Ari Brown scored a game-high 22 points -- including a crucial 3-pointer in the final minute -- to lead her team to a 68-64 win over the Seaquam Seahawks in the semi-final round of the TBI Girls Super 16 Bracket. Ryan Molag photo

Clinging to a two-point advantage in the final minute of regulation, Ari Brown buried a timely three-pointer to create some separation and lift the Riverside Rapids to a 68-64 victory over the Seaquam Seahawks.

The game was tight throughout. Riverside held a slim one-point lead at halftime before erupting for a 12-0 run to open the third quarter and build a double-digit cushion. Seaquam answered late, as Syra Toor’s third three-pointer of the quarter — and her fifth of the night — put the Seahawks briefly in front 60-59 with 2:45 remaining. The Rapids, however, closed strong, scoring nine of the final 13 points to secure a berth in the championship game.

Brown led Riverside with 22 points, while Kaitlin Vergara added 20 and Henna Virk contributed 10. Seaquam was paced by Toor and Callie Brost with 17 points each, and Gurleen Bal finished with 16.

Holy Cross was led by a strong shooting performance from Isla Iannuzzi, who poured in 30 points, highlighted by six three-pointers. Solene Jackson added 10 for the Crusaders.
