Mar 14, 2015

Township of Langley (Saturday, March 14, 2015) – In an all Kelowna final, it was the Kelowna Christian Knights who were crowned 2015 BC High School Boys 1A Champions defeating the Immaculata Mustangs 59-46 on Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre.

The Knights used their size and strength, outplaying the Mustangs and holding them scoreless for the first 5-and-a-half minutes of the game.

“Our theme for the game was ‘party at the dump’,” said Knights Head Coach Tim Martens. “We have some of the best garbage men out there who will collect everything around the hoop. We’ve played this team often, they’re used to us so we wanted to throw a few hitches against them.”

Kelowna Christian held a 69-47 edge on the boards including a game-high 23 rebounds from Tournament MVP Jesse Stewart to go along with 15 points.

“We didn’t want to get into a run and gun game with them because we know they’re a fast team,” said Stewart.

Player of the Game Owen Klukas scored 16 points to with his 13 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

Michael Gini led all scorers with 18 points for Immaculata while Corbin Beauchemin netted 15 in a losing effort.

Kelowna Christian was stellar all-tournament holding opponents to just over 50 points a game throughout the championships.
