Adanacs Looking to Force Game 7

Aug 23, 2014

After holding a 2-0 series lead, the Coquitlam Adanacs have lost three straight and now face a must win situation.

Game 6 of the Minto Cup is tonight at 8:00PM at the Langley Events Centre, as the Six Nation Arrows try and close out the best-of-seven series.

After three games in three nights, both teams had the day off yesterday.

Coquitlam held a light practice and walkthrough on Friday, while Six Nations spent the day away from the arena.

“We went and visited the Musqueam First Nations,” said Arrows head coach Marshall Abrams. “They were kind enough to host and feed us. We had a chance to hear some of their elders and former lacrosse players speak,” he said. “The boys enjoyed a nice home cooked meal.”

Six Nations has a chance to wrap things up tonight, but Abrams knows it won’t be easy.

“We know Coquitlam’s going to give it everything they got,” he said. “We’ll give them everything we got too. The Minto Cup will be in the building tonight and we want to take it home tonight,” said Abrams.

For the Adanacs, this is the first time they’ve faced an elimination game since Game 7 of the BC Championships against the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

“We responded well that game against New West,” said head coach Neil Doddridge. “I expect the same from the boys tonight. We’re going to bring it in the first period and go from there.”

“We’re excited, we’re rested and we’re prepared,” stated Doddridge. “That’s all you can ask for.”

The Arrow are trying to win their third Minto Cup in franchise history, claiming it in 1992 and 2007.

“The guys know we have one more to go,” said Brandon Montour. “Coquitlam will be coming out hard. They can’t afford to lose and we understand that,” he said. “It was nice to have the day off and rejuvenate. We’re looking forward to tonight.”

“The crowd should be great,” said Abrams. “A lot of different reserves hopefully come out and if Coquitlam brings their fans too, we’ll pack this place.”

Six Nations leads the best-of-seven series 3-2.

Tickets are available at or at the LEC Box Office which opens at 5:00PM.
