The LEC is proud to present the 2012 Tsumura Basketball Invitational (TBI), presented by Starline Windows. The two day event will feature one of the most highly touted high school basketball programs in North America as the Tsumura Basketball Invitational goes on December 1 and 2 in the LEC Gymnasium. Findlay Prep, from Las Vegas, Nevada will be in attendance with a roster stocked full of top tier NCAA recruits and NBA prospects.
Having just won the 2012 ESPN National High School Basketball Invitational, the Pilots, as Findlay Prep is known, have four players who already have commitments to Division 1 NCAA basketball programs for next year while four more have high major offers. Third year starter, Nigel Goss-Williams will split time at the point with Allerik Freeman and Stanford Robinson. Goss-Williams is committed to Washington for 2013, Freeman is heading to UCLA and Robinson will suit up for the Indiana Hoosiers. They join Christian Wood, who is committed to UNLV.
There is also a distinctly European feel to the Findlay Prep roster with 6’6” Belgium wing Dion Wade, and third year post, Benas Griciunas, from Lithuania, who is a 7 foot tall, 225 pound skilled big man who competed at the u18 European Championship. Coupling those bigs (Wood is also 6 foot 11 inches) with 6 feet 10 inch tall forward Fallou Ndoye and 7 foot 1 inch tall junior Kingsley Okoroh and the Pilots boast an extremely tall and athletic lineup that will pose an unfamiliar challenge to local powerhouses Walnut Grove and White Rock Christian Academy.
The two feature games (Findlay Prep vs. Walnut Grove on Saturday; Findlay Prep vs. White Rock Christian Academy on Sunday) will be two of the most highly anticipated high school basketball games in years to happen in British Columbia.
The event will also include the highly ranked WJ Mouat boys team (taking on Walnut Grove on the Sunday), plus the predicted top four girls teams (Brookswood, Oak Bay, Riverside and South Kamloops) playing on Sunday. All games are being played in the LEC Gymnasium. Tickets for the event go on sale to the general public Saturday, November 10 at 11:00AM at www.ticketmaster.ca or at the LEC Ticket Office. Prices, per day, are as follows: $10 for youth (18 and under), $15 for adults (19 and over) and $20 to sit courtside. There is an additional $0.75 charge when purchasing tickets online or by phone.
